Smile Design
Smile design is a field of dentistry that deals with dental aesthetics and smile beauty. Smile design involves designing a smile by paying attention to the person’s facial features, the shape, color, size of the teeth and other aesthetic factors. The goal is to provide the person with an ideal, balanced and aesthetically pleasing smile.
The steps of smile design are generally as follows:
1. Examination and evaluation: The dentist evaluates the patient’s current dental structure, mouth structure, facial features and personal preferences. Methods such as digital imaging, photo analysis and intraoral examination are used for smile design.
2. Tooth color and whitening: The color of the teeth is usually made whiter and brighter by the whitening process. The dentist performs the whitening process, taking into account the natural whiteness of the patient’s teeth.
3. Teeth alignment and correction: When necessary, teeth are aligned and corrected through methods such as orthodontic treatment or transparent plates. This step ensures that the teeth are properly aligned and create a harmonious smile.
4. Tooth shaping and filling: The dentist may use methods such as porcelain laminates, composite fillings or porcelain crowns to improve the shape and size of the teeth. In this step, the shape, length and proportion of the teeth are regulated.
5. Gum aesthetics: Gum line and symmetry are also taken into consideration during smile design. Gum planing procedures can be performed to improve gum aesthetics and provide a symmetrical smile.
6. Evaluation of the results: The dentist evaluates whether the designed smile is liked by the patient. Necessary corrections and fine adjustments are made.
Smile design makes a person’s smile aesthetic and, according to research, significantly increases a person’s self-confidence.
